Stop Adding to our Children's and Grandchildren's Debt!

As a supporter of the federal balanced budget amendment, I was pleased at the progress made in the '90s when we went from a federal deficit to a federal surplus. Unfortunately, President Bush's agenda of tax cuts for the very well off, along with the war in Iraq, will cost us trillions over the next decade - and put us in a position of record-setting deficits once again.

I will continue to oppose legislation that puts our nation in the precarious position of spending funds we don't have - and adding an onerous burden to the futures of our children and grandchildren who will be forced to pay it off.
